The lake of Llyn DinasLlyn Dinas is one of the many mysterious pools or lakes associated with Arthur. This lake lies close to the hillfort of Dinas Emrys, the legendary place of the showdown between the failing tyrant Vortigern and the young boy Ambrosius (Emrys in Welsh), who was later identified with the wizard Merlin.

Here, under the still reflection of the dark waters, lies hidden the Throne of Britain, sunk beneath a great stone by Vortigern. This may in part be a memory of Merlin's treasure, which is apparently buried beneath nearby Dinas Emrys, or else in a cave near the area.

Llyn Dinas is right next to Dinas Emrys, and a visit to the one could and should be combined with a visit to the other.
